Distance H- Reason to Rush

 

 

Distance H, a  project by French producer Manu H, is creating Intimacy, a shadowy, melancholic EP featuring various female artists.  The new track “Reason to Rush” sees Manu H collaborating with Cuban born singer Liset Alea, former lead singer of the band Nouvelle Vague.

 

Manu H beautifully describes “Reasons to Rush” as representing

“Melancholy and loneliness are part of a precious inner world, the origin of creativity perhaps...but the doubt, the tiredness of thinking about oneself all the time...wanting to escape from oneself...music (art in general) and love are the only possible exits.  And the reason to rush might be to escape this tiring inner world towards art and love.”

 

“Reasons to Rush” takes the listener on a hazy and ethereal journey through the artists introspective thoughts. The airy and beautifully evocative vocals of Liset Alea perfectly complement the lush instrumental environment.  Each element of the track blends together seamlessly to create a wonderfully reflective and immersive experience.  “Reasons to Rush” is an awe-inspiring addition to the Distance H album Intimacy.

Distance H’s Waters of woe

 

Distance H, a  project by French producer Manu H, is creating Intimacy, a shadowy, melancholic EP featuring various female artists.  When talking about the new track on Intimacy titled “Waters of woe” Manu H explains

 

 “This track is part of the process of my EP Intimacy on which I invite female singers to express themselves by escaping into and from the vast distances of themselves and their experiences.”

 

 Once the instrumental part of the song “Waters of woe” was completed Manu H began looking for the singer who would best compliment the song.  He contacted Marita Volodina from Stridulum.

“the connection was fast between her universe, what she wanted to express and my own vibes. We quickly shared the same vision and I was very impressed by the way she appropriated the title, which also led to the desire to make a video to bring a visual dimension to what we could share with all our connections.” 

 

The song is a redemptive arc which starts with the way in which one must overcome pain and anguish, that are the result of broken promises made either by yourself or by others, making the Promised Land inaccessible.  Despair, resulting in anguish and abandonment leads eventually to the ability to distance oneself from the ghosts of the past and find solace in the present.  The song has a captivating melody, dark and enticing, which is entwined with provoking lyrics and the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Marita Volodina.  

 

A spectacularly intoxicating track “Waters of woe” is a fabulous addition to the Intimacy EP.

Distance H- Bitch 16

 

A project by French music producer Manu H, Distance H is producing a shadowy, melancholic EP, featuring  various female vocalist.  The forthcoming EP Intimacy begins with the debut song “Bitch 16“,  a nostalgic dark wave track.  Titled to represent a harsh juxtaposition to the notion of Sweet 16, with the sweetness and carefreeness that invokes, “Bitch 16“ is an exploration of brutality, disgust and obsession.  With evocative intense and at times soaring vocals by Ophelia from Saigon Blue Rain, “Bitch 16“ immerses the listener into an ominous soundscape in which the transition from childhood to adulthood is represented by dark, menacing music and solicitous and at times pleading vocals.  If this title track is indicative of the rest of the EP, Intimacy in its entirety is something to look forward to.
